Café Royal is a brand of Delica AG. In 2012, we surprised the market with our new coffees. Initially only in Nespresso®*-compatible capsules. A mission crowned with success. In the meantime, we can do even more: we offer sustainable and characterful coffees for various systems. From classic filter to professional with portafilter machines. Our motto: You choose the machine. We provide the perfect taste.
Delica has existed under its current name only since June 2021. Its roots go back far into the 20th century: for more than 70 years, the company has been roasting and refining coffee. Today, Delica is one of the largest coffee roasters in Switzerland. It produces numerous own brands for Migros and for renowned large companies at home and abroad. Delica stands for the highest enjoyment competence under the umbrella of Migros-Industry. At five locations in Switzerland and numerous branches abroad, it employs around 2600 people.
Starting as a bold guerrilla capsule, we are much more than just another alternative. Based in Switzerland, we place great value on quality and good taste – and we do this in a sustainable way. To offer our customers unique taste experiences and sustainable coffee solutions, we are constantly working on innovative ideas for tomorrow's coffee enjoyment. And we aim to surprise again and again – with unique coffee projects. Unusual products. And inspiring stories. What motivates us? Our unwavering belief that coffee can also do good.
Can you taste how coffee is produced? We believe: Yes. Because the best quality can only be ensured if the coffee is grown sustainably. We want coffee production to happen with respect for people and nature. That’s why Café Royal has been certified from the start. Initially with the UTZ seal. Meanwhile, UTZ has merged with the Rainforest Alliance. The merged organisation, called Rainforest Alliance, stands for more sustainable coffee cultivation and a better future for people and nature. Through the programme, coffee farmers are supported in growing their beans efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner. Furthermore, many products from Café Royal are also certified with the Fairtrade and the EU Organic seal.
Good coffee starts with the producer. That’s why we are committed in Honduras, Peru, and Brazil to supporting small farmers through the purchase of certified coffee. The Rainforest, Fairtrade, and Organic certifications mean higher income for the farmers and better environmental protection. Additionally, we implement various social projects for the farmers and their communities, aiming to improve living conditions. And it works! With dedicated engagement on site. Through our partnership with the farmers, we have been increasing local value creation for years: with projects like long-term purchase guarantees, agricultural training, and investments in modern machinery, as well as creating income diversity through cardamom and clove cultivation.
